The annual NAB Show is billed as the place "where content comes to life," and it's hard to disagree. The event is a chance for leaders in the world of media and production technology to come together and share knowledge, tackle the big questions facing the industry, and most importantly, show off a few new toys. There's always a raft of incredible and innovative products on show, but in 2017 it was NewTek who really stepped up and stole the show.
Unveiling a selection of new technology covering everything from advanced IP workflows to live production equipment, NewTek continues to push the boundaries by developing products that truly bring something new to the game. The highlight of the announcements was undoubtedly the new TriCaster TC1 – described by NewTek as "the one you've been waiting for."
"No TriCaster in the past has ever supported 4K UHD or even 3G-SDI."
Introducing the TriCaster TC1
To put things simply, the TC1 is the most complete and fully featured video production system on the market. It takes everything that we all loved about the previous TriCaster models and upgrades things with some new features that are set to change the way content is produced. Importantly, the TC1 isn't just designed for high-end productions. It's wealth of different features and possibilities makes the product a one-stop solution for almost every type of production – whether that's in a concert venue, school, house of worship or conference hall.
Don't take our word for it though. In a review by Pro Video Coalition, the TC1 is described as "breaking prior TriCaster barriers, since no TriCaster in the past has ever supported 4K UHD or even 3G-SDI for higher framerate progressive 1080p like 1080/50p and 1080/59.94p."
Just a few of the other capabilities of the TC1 are:
In reality though, there's just too much in the TC1 to cover in an article. Check out the video below from NewTek to get a handle on just how powerful and game-changing the TC1 really is.
But wait, there's more
Of course, the TC1 is just one of several new products that NewTek brought out at the 2017 NAB Show. There's an entire new lineup coming out from the company, but two of the most exciting pieces of equipment are the IP Series and Media DS.
The NewTek IP Series builds on the brand's reputation as world leaders when it comes to IP workflows. After all, it was NewTek who developed the NDI standard – an open-source platform for connecting production technology across a network. Building on the success of NDI, NewTek's IP Series is a range of modular video production systems, which provide "scalable, multi-source live video mixing of 64 true 4K UHD 60p source channels, each supporting key and fill, including 44 simultaneous external inputs."
In addition, NewTek has also launched a new Media Distribution system – Media DS for short – which makes it possible to deliver live streams to an audience in real time, and with or without an internet connection. It's the first integrated production system to combine hardware and software in one box with Wowza streaming software, allowing content creators to share their work from anywhere and at any time.
Of course, there are plenty of other great stories coming out of NAB 2017. If you've got any questions about the new products launched by NewTek or any other company, get in touch with DVT today.
